Day 11 - Thursday 10th July

Today we stayed local by visiting the Valley Gardens in Harrogate then heading off to Knaresborough to see the castle and to have dinner at an Indian Restaurant.

The Valley Gardens were lovely. After a walk around, we headed out into the town. I had a quick look around the Pump House Museum but nothing really captured me here. We also looked at a couple of Galleries. In one of the Galleries there were paintings by the Bronte sisters and their brother who were all artists as well as writers. Needless to say they were also from Yorkshire.

Walking uptown I found the Boots store to buy Anna her eyeliner ... but could not get her nail polish. The road to Boots was a closed road with market stalls all down the road. There was alo a Betty Jean Teahouse with lots of goodies in the window but we resisted the temptation. I brought some tins of Harrogate - Farrers Toffee and Fudge.

After resting in the afternoon (it is very easy to get used to these after lunch nana naps), we headed off to pick up Mum and go into Knaresborough for a walk and dinner at an Indian Restaurant. After spending about 45 minutes in traffic (this is travelling only about 5 ks, we decided to leave it go until later and went home. Mandy and I merrily partook of a few wines!!

When we tried again the traffic was much lighter and we made it to Knaresborough. The walk around the castle was brilliant and the views were amazing down to the bridge and the River Nidd.

The Indian Restaurant was packed and had to wait about 40 minutes, so we went to a local pub. I had my first English beer and it was lovely. We also played a game of what am I ... good fun. We finally made it to the Restaurant ... the service took a while but the food was excellent.

Tomorrow we are off to York for a pick with musos Wen had met on a previous trip.
