Australian Banjo Camp December 5th – 7th 2008

The inaugural Australian Banjo Camp will take place from December 5th – 7th 2008 at the beautiful Tranquil Park Resort just outside of Maleny in the magnificent Sunshine Coast Hinterland only 45 minutes north of Brisbane.

Get ready for an incomparable weekend of all things banjo! This is a great opportunity for banjo enthusiasts to rapidly improve their playing, to truly get inspired and most importantly to meet other players.

The camp is designed as a high-powered, fun filled weekend of instruction, jamming and networking, for five-string players of all skill levels from beginner to expert.

Our very special guest and principle instructor this year is Ross Nickerson of BanjoTeacher.com fame. Ross is a fantastic player and professional banjo teacher who travels the world instructing in the intricacies of five-string banjo. For more information on Ross, check out his website: rossnickerson.com.

Other instructors include two-time National Banjo Champion and full time music teacher Mr Gary Vann, and experienced player, teacher and banjo author Peter Nahuysen, founder and maker of Bellbird Banjos.

QUESTIONS:

Q1. How do I register and pay?
A. Send a cheque payable to Peter Nahuysen along with your registration form to PO Box 505 Aspley Qld 4034. You can also contact Peter Nahuysen to arrange a direct deposit if that is more suitable. It is essential however that there is a registration form sent as well.

Q2. Is the premises licensed?
A. Yes, Tranquil Park has a superb fully licensed bar and restaurant.

Q3. What meals are included?
A. Meals are all inclusive, starting with Friday dinner to be served at 7.00 pm and finishing with Sunday lunch. Morning and Afternoon Teas are included.

Q4(a). Can I bring a partner?
A. Yes but space will be limited due to the small number of double rooms available.

Q4(b). If I bring my partner, how much will it cost for them?
A. Because they are not receiving banjo instruction it will be only $295.00 for your partner. If they also are a banjo picker (lucky you!) it will still be $395.00.

Q5. Can I bunk down with a few buddies in the same room?
A. Yes, if you have 2 or 3 friends and would like to get a group together you can by all means book your own room. Let us know when you register.

Q6 If I come by myself will I be sharing a room with others?
A. Yes I am afraid so. Just like any Bluegrass Festival or Conference, to keep costs down for everyone we must dorm share the available rooms. However the maximum is only 4 per room with a number of 3 and 2 share, and they are very comfortable!

Q7. If I land at Brisbane Airport will there be transport arranged for me to get to the camp?
A. To assist any Interstate attendees, we will be offering a low cost shuttle service from the airport to Tranquil Park on the Friday departing at 4.00 pm and returning to the Airport departing the camp site at 4.00 pm on the Sunday. Let us know if you require the shuttle service when you book, and ensure that you allow enough time to connect from and with your flights.

HOW TO GET THERE:
From Brisbane turn left at the Landsborough / Maleny exit and take the Glass House Mountains Scenic Route. From Landsborough take the Maleny Road to the top of the range, then turn left at Cairncross Corner into Mountain View Road.
